Notes:

Gloss is a project that I began working on in the summer of 2016, as I worked on integrating several handmade instruments into a modular synthesis performance system. The instruments and sound sources include a modified streetlight that is then further processed using EQ, ambient electromagnetic wave fields, a self made version of Micheal Waiswitz’ ‘Cracklebox’, a small square wave generator that Bob Beilecki helped me build in 2003 that I affectionately call ‘glitterbox’, and a small modular synth. The pieces you hear here are largely improvised, with the exception of “Pedal (gloss remix) which is a recontextualized/constructed recording from an improvisation session.

This recording is a departure in some ways from my normal music recording process, and much closer to my performance work.
